Budoka nagara no Michi – The Path a Warrior Must Follow
The reader holds in their hands what is likely the most comprehensive Far Eastern and martial arts dictionary and encyclopedia ever published in Hungary — and perhaps even globally — compiled by a single editor-author, Watakushi Ningen.
This work contains approximately 6,000 entries in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and several other languages, more than double the number featured in the bilingual Hungarian–foreign language edition that appeared the year before the first edition, with the author’s permission (Sey Gábor: Raji no Do – Dojo no Soshi).
Naturally, this modest volume cannot compete with the Great Martial Arts Lexicon published seven years after the first edition (1997), which is the Hungarian translation of a German team’s work that originally appeared in 1996. Nevertheless, I recommend this book to all those interested in martial arts and Far Eastern culture, primarily because it draws significantly from works published by Hungarian authors. The entries provide concise yet comprehensive information, enabling the reader to quickly and thoroughly gain basic knowledge on a given topic.
